Preview: Cubs and White Sox May 7, 2014

Chicago, IL- Two lefties square off tonight at U.S. Cellular Field. Travis Wood, who is 2-3 with a 3.35 ERA, starts on the mound for the Cubs. John Danks, who is 2-2 with a 5.00 ERA, starts on the mound for the White Sox.

The Cubs are looking to split this series between their crosstown rival in the next two games. The White Sox won game one 3-1. Marcus Semien came through with a clutch RBI double in the top of the twelfth. The Sox came back again in the second game at Wrigley with a 5-1 win. Tyler Flowers hit the go-ahead RBI double in the top of the ninth.

Wellington Castillo is looking to rebound today after going one for four with three strikeouts in last night's game. The twenty-seven year old backstop for the Cubs is batting .261 this season. Another player looking to rebound from a dreadful night is Luis Valbuena. The third-basemen collected no hits in three at-bats along with two strikeouts.

The White Sox lead-off man Alejandro De Aza also needs to bounce back, as he collected no hits in five at-bats, along with three strikeouts. Dayan Viciedo and Marcus Semien didn't add to the hit column either, as both had four at-bats and struck out twice.

The Cubs got some bad news today with the addition of Pedro Strop to the DL for a groin strain. Lefty Zac Rosscup was called up to replace Strop in the pen.
