Preview: Cubs at Padres May 25, 2014

Chicago, IL-

Outlook for Cubs: The Cubs are looking to win only their fourth series of the year against the Padres today. They will send Jason Hammel to the mound in hope of adding win number six to his record. One player that has been heating up this series is Junior Lake, who is currently batting .273 in this series. The Cubs will be looking for Lake to keep contributing in the two hole today. Lately, the Cubs have been playing good baseball as of late, going 5-5 in their last ten games. However, the Cubs have a lot of ground to make up, as they are currently 18-29.

Outlook for Padres: On the other hand, the Padres are trying to split this series. Ian Kennedy, acquired from the Diamondbacks at the Trade Deadline last year, will look to earn his third win this season. Getting Carlos Quentin back from the disabled list has been helpful to the Padres offense, as he's batting .385 with 2 HR and 4 RBI in only six games. He hit his second home run on the year last night, and the Padres are looking forward to more production from their cleanup hitter in today's game. Unlike the Cubs, the Padres are only 3-7 in their last ten games. They are close to .500 though, as their record stands at 22-28.
